St. John the Baptist in New Brighton has a part-time position for a Director of Contemporary Music.

The contemporary ensemble has been in transition since November when our director, Bob Pontious (keyboardist of Soultight) passed away. Bob named the group "One Truth" and the group is committeed to carrying on the contemporary vision. St. John started a search from June 1 to July 1, with anticipated start in July. Email connection is available, though phoning is highly recommended. In the summer, our Mass is 10:30am, then in the fall moves permanently to 5:30pm (Sunday). Typically the groupe rehearses 1 night a week (determined by the director) and a limited warm-up immediately before Mass. Part of the opportunity of the position would be to help shape the direction, composition, and sound of the group. In the past, recruiting was by audition with 5-8 singers plus guitar, violin, flute, and piano.

We are hopeful and preayerful for the right person to bring their gifts and help us to enhance the worship experience of the assembly through this contemporary music.
